The Thurmanator

Thurman Thomas and Marv Levy at 2007 Hall of Fame Enshrinement
As most (I’d guess ALL) of you know, Thurman Thomas was enshrined at the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton, OH this weekend. His career forever bronzed in a metal representation of his head.

If you got to see him play, you know what an amazing career it was. (I still contend he is the best overall player in the old NES game Tecmo Superbowl…) The guy led the league in yards from scrimmage … several times! You can check out all his stats, but most people who watched him know that it was his determination to win, to overcome, that not only set him apart, but for the span of his career with the Bills, was the mark of the entire team.

Maybe it started with the Thurmanator.

If you click the image above it will open a streaming video in RealPlayer of Thurman’s HOF speech on Aug 4th. But there are many more things at the HOF site, so click on that link below. There’s also a great video up at the Buffalo Bills website, so check that out when you can. Plus, a great article at NFL.com by Vic Carucci.

It’s time to celebrate Thurman, so here are some good ways to do it. (Add any others in the comments below…)

Bills Player Arrested in Fracas

Anthony Hargrove - #93 Buffalo Bills DEI’ve always wanted to use the word “Fracas”. 🙂

Unfortunately, I did not want to use it in conjunction with the Buffalo Bills. It seems Mr. Hargrove (pictured above to the right) did not use his best discretion when choosing to be part of a gathering of 300-400 people on a sidewalk in downtown Rochester at 2:00am on a Saturday night.

Once police arrived, things happened… and Hargrove found himself in jail. Not good. Not like the Bills. It will be interesting to see what the Bills do with this.

Any thoughts? Comments? Leave them below.

Thurman Thomas in the Hall of Fame

Thurman Thomas and Marv Levy at 2007 Hall of Fame Enshrinement
If you missed it, Thurman Thomas was enshrined in the NFL Hall of Fame this weekend! That’s fun stuff for Bills fans! Thurman was definitely one of the key elements of our FOUR CONSECUTIVE Super Bowls. He and Jim Kelly definitely deserve to be the first two from that team (besides Coach Marv Levy) to be added to the Hall of Fame.

There’s a bunch of great stuff about Thurman online… check out the article I posted tonight at BuffaloBillsReview.com. There are several links there including a couple to videos of his speech given yesterday at the NFLHOF in Canton, OH.

He was an incredible player, and it was fun to re-live the memories as I read the articles and watched the videos this week. Congrats, Thurman!
